Sample Soap Collection Event

First and second graders collect toiletries and sing to celebrate

Tuesday, June 2 was a day for amazing Bubble Magic that only occurs when great kids work together.

Students in Amy Spiess-Ki’s Primary Choir had been learning songs about sharing, caring, giving, and acceptance. To add a hands-on component, Mrs. Spiess-Ki introduced her first and second graders to the concept of helping others: at their concert, they collected new soaps, toiletries, and other related items for donation to Sample Soap.

The response was great! The kids were so enthusiastic about their collecting that they continued bringing in items for a total of 55 pounds of toiletries!!

Mrs. Spiess-Ki then invited Sabra Wood to a meet-n-share with the Super Collectors. Filing in, the students were very excited to meet Sabra. She told them she was Miss Bubble, and a few responded, “You can’t be Miss Bubble, you’re a lady!”

The kids paid close attention when she spoke about Sample Soap, answering at least one question each in the Bubble Quiz and receiving prizes - small bottles of bubble solution, with extras for those who couldn’t attend.

Eager to show offtheir treasures, the kids proudly displayed all they’d collected. And like so much else that day, their stash was pretty amazing! It included a wide variety of products in both sample- and full-sizes. One little girl even had more to give but had left it in the car. She was assured Sample Soap would happily take her donation any time! In keeping with the sharing and caring theme, the Primary Choir sang Mangalam (a Vedic chant in Sanskrit, from India), Wishes, and Up With People.

Everyone had a great time, and hugs and thank-yous abounded when Sabra left. It was a win-win event.

A real Bubble Magic moment!
